The Cajun Girl Sharecropping Years is a moving and insightful memoir that tells the story of a young girl growing up in rural Louisiana in the early 1900s. Written with honesty and humor, this book offers a unique glimpse into a bygone era.

The author, Shirley Fontenot, was born into a family of sharecroppers. Her family lived in a small shack on a plantation, and they worked long hours in the fields to make ends meet. Despite the poverty and hardship she faced, Fontenot remembers her childhood with fondness.

In her memoir, Fontenot vividly describes the Cajun culture of her youth. She writes about the food, the music, and the traditions that were so important to her family. She also writes about the challenges that she faced as a young girl growing up in a poor and segregated community.

The Cajun Girl Sharecropping Years is a powerful and inspiring story of resilience and hope. Fontenot's memoir is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always something to be grateful for. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in Cajun culture, Southern history, or the American experience.
